Originally from Mechanicville, New York, and now living in Albany, Nicholas is an Associate running in our Business Law and Transactions and Health Law departments. Joining O&A in August of 2021, Nicholas focuses in large part on business regulation subjects and hashish. Cannabis law is Nicholas’ passion, and he strives to provide guidance to applicants and licensees (including Conditional Adult Use Retail Dispensaries (“CAURD”) and Adult-Use (“AU”)) who're unsure and crushed by way of the arduous necessities imposed through New York’s Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act (“MRTA”) and the policies applied by way of New York’s Office of Cannabis Management (“OCM”). Additionally, Nicholas advises customers who are facing enforcement movements imposed via OCM.
In addition to cannabis, Nicholas also specializes in industrial litigation (assets and/or business disputes), trendy compliance (company, employment, Medicaid/Medicare), mergers and acquisitions, settlement drafting and negotiations, trendy enterprise formation and compliance, transactional and regulatory advice for each business and healthcare customers, and landlord-tenant disputes.
Nicholas previously worked as a Legal Clerk to Martin Kehoe, an Impartial Hearing Officer for New York State Special Education cases. While running with Mr. Kehoe, Nicholas assisted in drafting and issuing selections and various orders to aid in the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (“IEP”) for college-elderly college students with disabilities.
While in law faculty, he served as an Intern to Corporate Counsel for Beech-Nut Nutrition Company, in which, further to assisting Beech-Nut’s Corporate Counsel in coping with a contract repository, he researched legal issues which includes records privacy, corporate governance, b-corporation standards, and litigation topics which includes foreign item and identical employment opportunity claims.
