During law faculty, Mike served as a regulation clerk to the Hon. William Whitbeck, Chief Judge of the Michigan Court of Appeals, and as an Associate Editor of the Michigan State Law Review. Before becoming a member of his cutting-edge firm, Mike served as the Executive Director of First Defense Legal Aid and worked as an appeals legal professional at the Chicago department of the Office of the Illinois State Appellate Defender. In this role, he argued prison appeals before the Illinois Appellate Court. Outside of his prison practice, Mike enjoys training soccer and softball, playing golf, and collaborating in friendly poker video games
