About
Lawyer Andrea Buckley grew up in rural Nebraska, residing in a number of small cities before landing in Boyd County. She attended the University of Nebraska at Kearney and earned a bachelor’s diploma in Spanish Translation and Interpreting. She went directly to law college at the University of Nebraska College of Law, graduating in 2007.
Andrea’s legal profession started out at a private regulation office in Sioux City earlier than becoming a member of Iowa Legal Aid in 2009. There, her exercise covered consumer rights, landlord/tenant law, guardianships/conservatorships and appellate advocacy. She evolved a specialized exercise in tax litigation, becoming the dealing with lawyer of the statewide Low Income Taxpayer Clinic. Andrea defended taxpayers in front of the IRS and in United States Tax Court on a huge variety of tax problems. She also has great expertise of employment and taxation problems relating to overseas agricultural employees. She has been a frequent presenter locally and nationally, teaching legal professionals and laypeople at the fine details of the federal tax machine.
Andrea spent almost twelve years as a consumer board member for the Siouxland Community Health Center, serving as president for four years. In that function, she assisted with board improvement and organizational strategic making plans. In 2024, Andrea left Iowa Legal Aid to serve as the Interim Chief Executive Officer of the Siouxland Community Health Center even as the organisation looked for a everlasting leader. Andrea brings a wealth of information from the non-income area to her practice at Tigges, Bottaro & Lessman, LLP.
Outside of work, Andrea is an avid roller skater, formerly playing roller derby for 7 seasons with the Sioux City Roller Dames. These days, you'll discover her skating at the weekends, serving as a frontrunner for her daughter’s Girl Scout troop, and making a song the National Anthem at the Sioux City Explorers.
